Outpatient Chest Pain Care Quality Measures
A person who comes into the Emergency Department with chest pain may be having a heart attack.
Research has shown that patients who are given an aspirin as soon as possible during or after a heart attack are better able to survive a heart attack. Aspirin makes blood less likely to clot in the blood vessels after a heart attack.
The chart below shows the percentage of patients at Cedars-Sinai who reported chest pain when they arrived at the Emergency Department who received aspirin within 24 hours before their arrival to the Emergency Department or before being transferred to another hospital.
The chart compares percentage at Cedars-Sinai with the average for hospitals nationally and in California.
(This is the most recent data reported to The Joint Commission. Reporting is not required if there are five or fewer cases.)
A higher number is better than a lower number.
